The Bilingual Environmental
Leadership Program
Personal and professional growth
Courses, workshops and activities are organized to help students develop their personal and social skills. Students can work on topics such as teamwork, communication, time management and self-confidence.
It is a way for them to learn more about themselves, their personalities and qualities and also how to relate to other human beings.
Environmental education
Students receive knowledge on various topics such as sustainable tourism, climate change, pollution, beekeeping, natural history of flora and fauna, natural medicine.
They are asked to be part of research processes such as observation of flora and fauna and data collection. The objective of these classes is for them to appreciate natural resources and thus generate positive changes for the environment.
English classes
A strong focus of the program is for the young people to end up with a very high level of English in order to generate opportunities.
English learning is also used to learn about topics such as ecology, leadership, sustainable tourism and personal development.
Fieldwork
Students also get the opportunity to learn how to work in our organic garden. They are taught how to grow fruits and vegetables, how to reforest, how to take care of insects and animals…
Helping in the garden once a week is a practical way to apply knowledge in the classroom.

Testimonials
Results of the first program : August 2020 - December 2022.
“For me the "bilingual environmental leaders" program was one of the best experiences I have had in my life, I learned a lot of wonderful people who like to share their knowledge, I grew as a person, professionally and emotionally, I also learned a new language. Before the program I had many doubts and insecurities but now I go through life more confident and eager to continue learning and to continue surrounding myself with people with whom I can dream big, eager to continue motivating more people to join the program, to see future generations grow and learn so that their lives can change like mine.”

“This program has been a great help for me, because now I can see each stage of life in a different way, I have learned to work with bees, worm farming, organic agriculture, to take care of the environment. I have developed skills, woodworking, living roofs. In Aguali Biological Station I had the great opportunity to learn English as a second language, with native teachers, this opened many doors to new opportunities as I became a tour guide, teaching and learning more about the environment every day. These opportunities have led me to travel around Nicaragua getting to know different places, ecosystems, and people. I am always proud to present Agualí as the place where my world expanded to new opportunities.”
